A court in Kazakhstan has sentenced three crypto exchange operators to prison terms ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 years for operating an unlicensed
cryptocurrency exchange platform. The Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) of Kazakhstan reported that the operators were involved in exchanging cryptocurrencies for a fee without proper authorization. The court also ordered the confiscation of assets worth $750,000, including houses and cars. The operators used unsecured digital assets and crypto wallets, and engaged with crypto exchanges that are prohibited in Kazakhstan. This case is part of a broader crackdown on illegal crypto trading activities in the country.
